The second image of Cristiano Ronaldo

Steps that I used to duplicated the layer, make it b&w and add a layer mask: 

1.Open the Layers Palette.
2. duplicate the colour layer by dragging it to the new document symbol on the bottom of the layer palette.
3.make the  top layer a black and white image by selecting Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate .
 
The result of this image after the edit :
